Pierre Moran
The Jags pulled out the win tonight, but it was certainly a hot one. Heat indexes of 99 degrees...wow. Not fun for the cheerleaders, nor the players I am sure. But, Gabi got through it and looked cute as usual! She did some flying and got to show off her tumbling skills as well. Way to go girls!

Turning 40
Ben told me that he had plans for us on Saturday evening. He knows I am not good with not knowing what is going on and being in control, but I tried my hardest to allow him to take the lead this time. I was a bit apprehensive since we promised each other not "big deals" out of our 40th and I held up my end of the bargain. Ben has been known to do things anyways...so, again, I was scared. But, he kept reassuring me it was no big deal. He had made plans for Gabi to stay with a friend overnight and for my parents to keep Gunnar since we would be gone probably more than 4 hours. This made it better for me...knowing everyone and everything else was being taken care of. We hopped in the car with the only hint being "it's in another state." We headed toward Michigan and ended up in St. Joe at Bistro on the Boulevard. Ben explained that his original plan of Tabor Hill didn't work out since they were booked but he did some homework and decided on this place instead. It was nice. We ate outside facing the water with perfect weather. In the upper 70's and sunny. We both had steak and I have to say, it was good.
Afterwards, we did some walking around and decided to grab a small bowl of ice cream at Kilwins.
He said his next plan was to watch the sunset. We found a swing to sit on and watch the sun go down over the water and it couldn't have been more perfect.
I was very impressed with how sweet he was. AND he stuck to his promise. I am certainly a lucky lady and I have been blessed with a wonderful, thoughtful husband (when I let him be lol) and a beautiful family. Life is good.
It seems turning 40 may not be so bad after all.

8th Grader
Just can't believe my baby is an 8th grader. She is looking forward to this year...much more so than last year. She knows her way around the school, not to mention she is the top dog of the school...being in 8th grade. And she has many more friends in her classes this year than last year. And she is taking Spanish for high school credit ;)

12 Weeks
So this little guy was 12 weeks on this past Friday. He is weighing in at 5 lbs. 5 oz. according to our bathroom scale. This puts him on track to weigh between 9-11 lbs as an adult.
He is almost completely potty trained. He goes to the door and sometimes even uses the little bells I made for him, sometimes he whines at the door and sometimes he just sits.
He is starting to understand his name and some commands such as "sit" and "come here."
He still loves his caterpillar and his teddy bear we got him when we first brought him home.
He is also learning to walk with Maizy. For the past several days we have been able to walk them together around our "block" - quite a walk for our little fella, and he wants to be carried some of the way, but he is doing well on a leash!
He is a great sleeper. He starts out on our bed til we are all settled in and he is usually passed out, mostly on his back. We think he likes the airflow of the ceiling fan on his belly. So funny to see him sleep like this though! Such a sweet little guy. I know he will miss his Gabi when she goes back to school tomorrow!

Switchin Up Seasons (Fishing...Hunting)
Tyler made it home on Sunday to help celebrate Paw Paw's birthday a day early.
Since Tyler is home this week, Ben has taken opportunity to start getting ready for hunting season. He has plans on a big hunt in Bloomington this Fall (stay tuned). Tyler plans to go too. Love to see Ben and the boys in their element...
And Gabi was so happy that Brooke came back from visiting her grandma. These two have been spending as much time together as possible.

Cousins
We visited with Pam to see the baby a few times this past week and we also got to visit with Jenny and her family as well since they are staying with Pam to help out with the whole adjusting to having another child. It's been quite entertaining. Lucas is such a cutie! He is almost one and the looks he gives to people are so funny. It's almost like "what you talkin' about Willis?" looks. So funny. I am happy to say though, when saying our goodbyes last night he was finally warming up to me and actually wanting me to hold him!!!
And Colby...what a cutie pie!!! I just love to hold newborn babies. Looking at pics of Bren and Leigh, Pam noticed just how much Colby resembles Bren while sleeping!!! Regardless, he is a bundle of joy. So very happy for Pam and her little family.
The time always seems to go by so much more quickly when family is here from out of town. Never enough time to do the things you want to do with them. But, we were able to see Lucas get dedicated and we also welcomed a new little cousin into the family. Good times!
