Grandma's Birthday

So glad we were able to visit as a family with Grandma and Grandpa Jones for Grandma's birthday (tomorrow).  85 looks great on you!! 

Much to be thankful for...

We hosted Thanksgiving as usual this year, but were down a bit on numbers since Jenny's family and Chad's family were not coming.  Since Uncle Kenny and Aunt Sharon were going to be alone this year, we invited them.  They gladly obliged.  Trenton made it home a couple hours before eating time so he made himself comfy.  The food was wonderful as always and afterwards we took time to just visit, play some games (wii and a board game Leigh brought along), watch football and look at the Black Friday ads.  It was a good day.  So very thankful for so many things.  But the one thing I am truly thankful for is having a complete family this weekend.  It doesn't happen often anymore so I take in every moment when it does.  Happy Thanksgiving!

Big 11 Cheer Competition

This morning Gabi and the 8th grade John Young Cheerleaders competed in the Big 11 Cheer Competition at Goshen Middle School.  This is the first time we have competed all year and I believe ever, for John Young.  There were three other schools...Northwood Middle, Goshen Middle and Pierre Moran Middle.

I could tell the girls were a bit nervous after watching Northwood and Goshen warm up, but they really pulled it out!

How exciting when they called John Young the runner up winner today!  Second Place is not too shabby for a first time.  No deductions for the team.  The only stand out comments were pointed toes and more formations.  That is one thing Goshen (the winner) did have over John Young...alot more stunt formations.  And they were difficult ones too.  We were even more thrilled after hearing Goshen Middle and Northwood Middle have both competed over 5 times so far.  This was John Young's first time.  Hard work does pay off!!  So proud of Gabi and her teammates today!  A big thank you to Uncle Jay, Aunt Annie, Uncle Dave, Maw Maw, Paw Paw, Tyler, Abby and Max for all coming to cheer on our cheerleader this morning.

Grissom Win

John Young won a great game tonight against Grissom.  And the girls did their finished routine for the competition coming up this Saturday!!! 

And to top off today's game...the stripes weren't so bad either (Chad).

Unfortunately, the ICE competition, JamLive in Chicago has been cancelled for this Sunday (too many girls out either hurt or out of town for the Macy's Parade).  That's okay...Gabi's reply, "can we dedicate Sunday to Christmas, mom? just you and I decorate the tree and eat Christmas cookies and listen to Christmas music?"  - Sounds good to me!!  Let's Deck the Halls!!!! :)
