Half a Century Thoughts

So I’ve almost been on earth half a century!  Instead of dreading it, I thought I would think on what I’ve learned over time and celebrate them. These have come to mind and thought I’d share….

-God always has a plan. Listen to Him. Watch for doors to open and say goodbye to the ones that close. He has already written your next chapter.

-Love your spouse with all you have.  Enjoy the different phases of life together. Communicate!

-Family is a precious gift. Cherish them. Learn from the ones still here. Watch for signs from the ones that are gone. They are all around us.

-Patience is truly a virtue. It definitely gets better over time. Be slow to speak and listen more.

-Friends make life fun. Enjoy time with them and hold tight to the good ones.

-Kids grow up way too fast. Live in the moment with them, you’ll never get it back. Be hands on. Savor every high with them and love them through the lows.

-Pictures are gold!  Take many!  They bring memories to life.

-You cannot change people. But you can change your reaction to them.

-Time is most certainly a thief. Put your phone down, turn off the tv.  Be present. Make memories!

Lake Night with Grands

We actually went to the Penn vs Mishawaka football game Friday with the return of the “backyard brawl” with family. And on Saturday morning we grabbed up the grands to spend the night at the lake. Even though it was a bit chilly for them to go in the lake we had lots of fun playing, fishing and laughing. Finished off the weekend with a trip to the go carts in town for some friendly racing and arcade games. A fun weekend for sure. And an Irish win to boot!

Canada

Ben got back from Flindt Landing at 7:30 am … here are a few pics he shared. Ben got the largest walleye 24.5 inches (also the smallest - see below) and Aunt Annie caught a 40 inch northern. The weather was cooler and rained some but they got some good fishing days.

Girls Weekend

With Ben in Canada this weekend and the weather perfect, Gabi and I couldn’t pass up a weekend at the camper. We left somewhat early on Friday so we could eat dinner at Two Bandits Brewery, which was delicious!  Came back to the campground and just relaxed. Took a golf cart ride and called it an early night after we got our s’mores in. With Gabi having a kidney infection I knew it could be a quick getaway, depending on how she felt. We did decorate in the camper with some fall decor. But we were in bed by 10:30 pm Friday. Luckily, she woke up much better on Saturday. Lots of sunshine so we made the most of it. We kayaked, paddleboarded, took a long walk, got shaved ice, took golf cart rides, read some of our books, talked, made dinner together and afterward did our DIY take home Board and Brush (came with everything you need and instructions!) Got a fire started and had s’mores again and took a quick golf cart ride before showering to see what the DJ was all about. Lots of laugh, connection and fun this weekend. So glad Gabi wanted to do this with me!
