Yesterday happened to be my last day in IT at the City. I accepted a new position I was offered over a month ago. Monday I officially start as the Mayor Dave A. Wood’s Executive Assistant.
It all came on quickly after the former assistant was let go. And after much thought, prayer and doors being opened - I decided to follow the signs as I have done previously.
The decision was not easy. These guys in IT have literally kept me going when life wanted me to quit. Their light heartedness, kindness and helpfulness restored my faith in good men. I will forever be grateful that they filled my days with laughter when I could have been crying.
Luckily, I’ll only be across the hallway and I promised to bother them often.
I’ll miss Davor Dobric (Bosnian) as he was just to my right and was always there to make me laugh. John Curtiss and his quick witted humor and his respect he always showed, Christian Coop and his eating 5 lunches, Brent Chupp and his love of Reese’s, Russ Haimbaugh and the way he talked about getting away to Florida. And of course, the boss- Phil Hopson and the life stories he shared daily. I never knew a person could live so fully.
These guys are the greatest. I’m scared, anxious but excited about a new chapter. I’m ready to help make some history in the city of Mishawaka with the Mayor.
