Waffle Farms

This year we were unable to grab up the cabins at Waffle Farms but we did manage to get an Airbnb just about 7 houses down from where uncle Russ and Aunt Julie rent theirs (728 N Hawley Dr). It made for a little bit more of a challenge meeting up with everyone but it wasn’t horrible. The owner rented out the pontoon for $700 for the week which we couldn’t pass up! The weather cooperated nicely with just a few showers mostly in the mornings. We got some great sandbar time in with lots of skiing and tubing. Bennett even learned to ski this year. He got up the first try!  The evening’s were spent at my parents campsite with wiffleball behind the campfire circle which involved all the kiddos. This was Tyler’s first year using his new (uncle Russ old) boat. And you could tell he had the best time with it. This vacation is always a great reminder to keep how lucky we are to have the family that we do. We also had our annual fishing competition. Winners listed below.

Cousins

Love that these two get to work together

Independence Day Celebration

Watched the city of Mishawaka shoot off fireworks last night with someone special

Happenings at Work

This past week was a big one. The city of Mishawaka hosted Aim (mayors and clerks throughout Indiana) for their annual Board of Directors meeting on Monday and Tuesday. We hosted a dinner at the Carnegie Library (Jesus)  and then we walked down to Ironworks to listen to Lakebed (Chad Roggemans band), enjoy DORA and Bonnie Doon ice cream truck while playing on the bumper carts. We got to order from Ball Band Biergarten, Public House and Social Cantina. I left when they loaded the buses for a tour of all the parks and a stop at Rose Park to be the first people to play Belgian Bolling and Bocce. Tuesday morning we hosted the actual meeting at Ironworks with a breakfast from The Curve. We got several compliments that it was one of the best board meetings they’ve been to. Then on Thursday I worked with Shellie Lentz heading up the Employee Summer Luncheon. The weather was great and held out on the rain til after it was over. Again, many good compliments on how it was great. It was a successful week for me and makes it even better to look forward to vacation in a couple weeks!

Successful Fledging Camera House

This year I was able to watch a bluebird finally hatch, grow and fledge!  Gabi got me the bluebird house with a camera last year and wasn’t able to get a family in. This year it happened. Started with four eggs. Two eggs were bad, one hatched and the baby died and one hatched. I got to watch that baby til he left the nest this week. Best gift ever!

Father’s Day

My kiddos and I were able to go to my parents’ house to spend time with them for Father’s Day today. It couldn’t have been better weather!  Sunny and almost 90 degrees for the kids to swim!  So thankful for my parents and especially my dad today.
Saw this and instantly thought about my dad:
He never looks for praises.
He's never one to boast.
He just goes on quietly working
For those he loves the most.

Got to go 50ft up in a bucket truck and learned to climb an electric pole at the Mayor’s Youth Council last field trip.
