33 Years

33 Years has passed since Mishawaka has beaten Penn on their field!  Tonight, in front of 9,000 people, we ended the streak!
How exciting for Tyler to be part of such history last year and now this year! Articles in the Elkhart Truth and South Bend Tribune ("Our defense came to the rescue and bailed us out tonight!" Coach Bart Curtis).  I met Tyler down at the field and after a big hug said, "20 yards of rushing yards is all they got!"  Tyler couldn't have been more proud of his defensive team!  Lights Out!  I have to say the game was all the more exciting because of the family and friends who came to support Tyler - over 35 people!  That is overwhelming for me...we are very blessed.  Trenton even made it just in time for the second half (after taking a quiz at school and unable to leave until 5 pm ish)!  The first half of the game was full of "#22 Tyler Reinoehl on the tackle" commentary!  We actually ended up losing count!!!  He had an AWESOME defensive game!!!!  The commentators actually said, "you would think the offensive coordinators for Penn would figure out that they just need to know where #22 is going to be" and loved hearing them say when going into the second half "and we wonder if #22 will be playing any offense tonight, he talked about the possiblity...look for Mishawaka to bring anything new out that no one has seen this second half."  Hey, keep 'em guessing :)
But for me, the best commentating came after the game, when Tyler made good on his promise via a text last week to Randy Frederick (Penn's quarterback) that they would meet at the 50 after the line at the end of the game....and there they stood and hugged.  The commentators caught it and said, "look at that class act going on there, Tyler Reinoehl and Randy Frederick exchanging hugs and taps in the middle of the field."  THAT made me proud.  That's what it is all about.  Congrats to the Mishawaka Cavemen for an awesome game that had me on the edge of my seat the whole time!  Yes, they gave me room to breathe as they pulled ahead in score, but wow...great game! WNDU coverage here.  Fox28 coverage here!
