So, Ben has a hunting trip to Bloomington planned in a few weeks so he wanted to do some scouting to see exactly what he will be doing and how he will be setting up. He asked Gabi and I to go along so we could spend some time all together as a family. We decided a quick camping trip to Jellystone since we had a free night and the rates were already discounted, would be a great way to go.
Abby, Gabi and I spent some time on Friday evening when we got there...we put together a great dinner for our boys (Ben and Tyler) for after their quick trip to the Hoosier National Forest. All food requested by Tyler...steak, cheesy potatoes, Italian pasta salad and apple crisp/ice cream for dessert. Tyler appreciated it greatly! He even enjoyed the pizza pudgy pies later around the fire.
Saturday was gloomy. Rain on and off, but I have to say it quieted down enough for the boys to make a trip to the woods (while the girls did some Kirkwood shopping), come back to the campground for lunch and take us girls to where they had been Friday evening (Hoosier National Forest) and we even climbed 110 feet in the air on the fireman's watch tower!! I have to admit, I was panicky, but I made it!!! And what a view!!
Next up, Oliver Winery. I told Ben and Tyler that is one place I would love to go since I had never been. I had heard it was just gorgeous. I think we missed the changing leaves probably by just a couple weeks...but they are starting to get color. I can only imagine how beautiful it is then! The adults did our wine tasting while Gabi did some photo shooting around the vineyard. She got some great pics while I fell in love with the blackberry wine. So good!
We made it back to Tyler's house in time for the Notre Dame game and we ordered some pizza for dinner. Stayed til half time since we knew we would have to get the camper picked up and put away mostly that night. Always hate saying goodbye...even if it's only for a short time. Was able to get the boy some much needed groceries and we even helped rid him of his "pet" skunk - Bluntsworth.
Not happy about all the rain most the night Saturday and truly hated having to pack up and leave in the downpours, but we accomplished it and made it home by Gabi's team pictures at ICE (1:30pm). Had a wonderful, eventful weekend though...just another reminder of how blessed I am. Exhausted though...headed to bed early tonight!!!
