Marian Competition

Bethel went to its first competition tonight at Marian University. Took a hit right off the bat with one good tumbler and flyer out with Covid and with Journei being hurt he wasn’t able to tumble. Gabi was basically the only tumbler during the whole routine. We knew we would score lower this time but we did what we could. Gabi’s stunt fell. She worked hard to save it the first time making the timing off and her stunt came all the way down the second time. But, I was very proud that her face didn’t show it. She can struggle with that for sure, but she overcame this time. We were a bit surprised that Brescia got the score they did since they only had 5 members. The judges were supposed to deduct 5 points for not having a full team but when asked at the end how they got a better score than Bethel - “we didn’t think about that.”  Soooo in all honesty these scores are not accurate in my opinion and just show the team we have to work harder and stronger.

7.  Mount Vernon 64.5

6.  Bethel 67.37

Mariposa - Sunday

Our anniversary dinner and our ending to a beautiful weekend was spent at Mariposa in Sedona (made reservations 3 weeks ago because they fill up that fast). Talk about gorgeous views of the red rocks!  We had scallops and salad, Ben had a ribeye, asparagus and au gratin potatoes while I had the chicken with mashed potatoes and blackened corn. We also had the prickly pear cheesecake and vanilla bean ice cream courtesy of the chef for our anniversary. Perfect day. Sad to say goodbye after this gorgeous day. Sunny and 60 degrees. And seeing the sunset over the rocks was stunning on the way back to the hotel. Sedona is definitely a favorite of ours forever.

Bell Rock Trail - Sunday

We made a quick stop at the hotel for lunch and potty break. It saved us so much money having a full kitchen in our hotel. We bought breakfast food on Thursday to last the next few days. We headed back out for one more hike. Cathedral Rock was pretty packed, and I love the Bell Rock we can see from our hotel. It had to be my favorite. So we opted for that hike instead. It was a 2 mile hike that we kinda just took til we decided to stop. We didn’t go to the top considering the steepness and time constraints. We stopped and took in the views several times. Bell Rock is known to be a vortex so we tried to soak up all the energy we could. Ben kinda kidded me about this fact but all the pics he took of me actually have light beams in them!!!!  Kinda cool!  A beautiful hike indeed.
