Grand Canyon - Saturday
We had another full day driving to the Grand Canyon, 2 hours from Sedona on Saturday. One of both Ben and my bucket list check offs. We were so excited to see it and it seriously took our breath away when we saw it. Brought tears to my eyes. We did the South rim, but unfortunately the scenic road was closed due to snow and ice. Yes, it was incredibly windy so felt near 20 degrees outside. The excitement actually began when we spotted an elk just outside Sedona on our way. It was on the side of the road. And coming into the Grand Canyon, just outside on SR 64 we saw antelopes along the road. So very cool! Since the scenic drive Dessert View Drive, we had to adjust and just stop where we could along the south rim we could drive. Can I just say it topped off our excitement spotting a couple of mule deer bucks and a herd of elks in the park!!! Our day was perfect besides the cold, but honestly it didn’t matter. We drove back to Sedona after a few hours just taking in the Grand Canyon and grabbed a burger at Open Range downtown Sedona and ended the evening doing some souvenir shopping. An absolute perfect day. The sites put into perspective just how small we are in this big world.
