Boys BBall Concord

Gabi's last game she cheered at was last night against Concord.  I think she is ready to be done.  With her Honors classes, ICE and cheering at least twice a week for the past two months, her sanity is being tested at times. But, she went out there with a smile and did her thing as usual.  And the Competition Squad also performed their routine.  Amber and the girls, along with maw maw and paw paw were able to come watch her.  I know that made her very happy.  Here's to a great freshman year cheering!  Lots of exciting stuff coming this weekend...stay tuned!

Hoosier Open - St. John, Indiana

The Mishawaka Competition Cheer team finally got in a competition yesterday (Sunday) in St. John, Indiana at Lake Central High School.  With only just a few weeks to prepare and try to change some of the stunting from our routine we did at the Elkhart County Fair in the summer and the weather working against us (2 snow days and 3 practices cancelled, it just didn't look pretty, but the girls were determined to be able to do it and they were excited.  We were up against two other teams that have actually been competing for several years so unfortunately, we knew their performance would definitely have more difficulty.  Our girls performed an almost flawless routine - clean and looked very good.  But, as said before...the difficulty was just not there and the score sheet said just that.  We took home third place but the girls got medals and the team got a nice trophy.  Better yet, they all had smiles on their faces and had the best time.  That made me happy.  Explaining to Gabi that to most of the girls on the team, this would be what competing is...they didn't have the luxury of being on an all star team as she has been.  She completely understood and took the team by the reigns...she gave them a nice pep talk and she performed her heart out, just like she would on her ICE team.  Very proud of her.  And the team.  Proud to be part of a start up sport for these girls.  It can only get better from here!

Boys BBall Washington

The season is almost over already, but they keep plugging along.  The competition team is gearing up for a competition this Sunday so the girls tried out some stunting they will be doing.  Not bad.  I know the girls are looking forward to competing.  For many, this will only be their second time in their lives and with the school is their only opportunity.  I'm glad Mishawaka started this team - hopefully much more to come since this year was a learning year.

Boys BBall Penn

Boys lost their game to Penn last night, but the girls looked cute as always.  Aunt Annie and Aunt Becky caught up with us to watch Gabi do some cheering also.

GLCC Nationals - Schaumburg

We spent most of the weekend in Schaumburg, IL for the GLCC Nationals with my parents.  Trenton was able to meet up with us on Sunday to watch Gabi and see her win!  Yep, win!  1st place of 7 and very excited that our next competition will be NCA in Dallas!  The girls wanted redemption after a disappointing loss coming in 2nd at our last competition and they made up for it!
