While we were on vacation, Uncle Kenny and Aunt Sharon checked in on Grandma Jones. By the end of that week, he had noticed she just wasn't looking and acting quite normal. They ended up taking her to the ER where she was admitted for low potassium and dehydration. She had a 4 day stay to get better, but they told my mom and her siblings that she would need rehab. They chose Wellbrooke in South Bend. So about a week ago, they moved her there. Within a few days, Medicare had assessed the situation and suggested that she either have 24-hour care at home or move in there at assisted living. My mom and her siblings chose assisted living. So yesterday, I took the day off to help move her to her new room with my parents, Gabi, Uncle Russ and Uncle Kenny. They have a "happy hour" there every Friday afternoon, so we were able to partake with her. My feelings have been all over the place as things have moved so quickly with grandma. Alot of memories of Grandma Miller in the nursing home have flooded back and made things somewhat uncomfortable for me. I hated that time. I pray things are different for Grandma Jones. She has lived such a fulfilling life for 97 years so far. I would hate for her final years to be lived in such a way she does not enjoy to the fullest. I am blessed that my family is a close-knit family so I firmly believe we will all try our best to make the time in Wellbrooke happy and enjoyable. If you are reading this, please say a prayer for my grandma. She could and would appreciate all of them. I love her so very much.
