Jimtown and Northwood (Black Swish)

After church today Gabi played two games today and won both at the Elkhart Sports Center.  We played Jimtown last week and beat them again this week....too much to 2.  I think we stopped putting points on the board at 32 points.  Gabi had a good game this game...had 8 points total and some good passes.  I was disappointed at the Jimtown coach (lady) who decided to have a verbal fight with her assistant coach in front of the kids, took her own daughter out of the game and left after half time because of it.  The daughter left crying.  So sad.  What are we teaching our kids by doing things like that...ugh.  Irritates me. 

Played Black Swish (Northwood) immediately after and we could tell that our girls were a bit tired, but pulled off the win 30-18.  Gabi didn't have any points in this game but played pretty aggressively.  Grabbed some Culvers on the way back home and got our yardwork done this afternoon.  Busy day, but productive with some fun on the side.

Early Easter Egg Hunt

Since Chad and family are heading to Florida for Spring Break and won't be back until Easter, maw maw and paw paw decided to have the annual Easter Egg Hunt for the kiddos early.  We ordered Brunos pizza for dinner last night and let the kids have some fun.  So glad the weather cooperated and quit raining by late morning.  Gabi's basket was pretty snazzed up with goodies from Bath and Body Works and of course, lots of candy!!  Always a fun time to get together with family!  Wishing Chad and family safe travels and a great time. 

Last Elementary Choir Concert

Enjoyed Gabi's last choir concert as an elementary student.  It was an all city choir concert and it was all about Jazz.  Gabi didn't particularly care for the songs this year...I don't think it was because she is getting older, I just think she didn't like them.  Unfortunately, I have to admit...I only really knew the last song (in the video below).  I know Gabi enjoys choir and has decided she will continue in choir at the middle school next year.  We were lucky to have maw maw and paw paw join us to watch her last night.

Can't believe it's on to middle school choir now...

Good News

Aside from being able to watch the lady Irish beat California to go the "sweet 16" last night we got some awesome news from Trenton...
his buddy, Johnny recently became the head wrestling coach of Nazareth Academy in LaGrange Park, Illinois (just 20 minutes away from Naperville) and even had a state champ this past year.  According to Trenton, John had a nice talk with his supervisor about how they would love to build the wrestling program.  In order to do this, however, John suggested hiring assistant coaches and he gave them Trenton's name!  He said Trenton had the credentials with being on a team that had won state, had gone to individual state, has the passion for wrestling and refs quite often.  John's supervisor agreed and it is now in the works for Trenton to become the Assistant Coach for their wrestling team.  Trenton will be in charge of the 9th and 10th grade wrestlers.  How awesome to see Trenton's future unfolding and to see his goals come to light!!!!  So proud of him!  Please pray that Trenton formally gets the job...More info to come I am sure!!!

Elkhart League

Gabi was asked to play on a league with some other Mishawaka girls at the Elkhart Sports Center for a few weeks.  She has had practice twice a week for a couple of weeks now but knows the girls well from AYBT.  We played Jimtown today and won a solid game 38-4.  I could really tell the girls have come a long way.  They knew the plays and were making their shots.  Gabi had about 6 points in this game. 

The second game was a bit rough.  We played a younger team from North Liberty.  A little scrappy and rough is the only way to describe it.  Our girls kind of came out of that sound game they played in the first game and didn't play as well.  Gabi had 2-4 points in this game but wow, alot of fouls.  The girls won this game though, 27-7...well earned points that is for sure.  Gabi was just so excited that Trenton and Tyler were able to be there to watch her.  She really loves her brothers.

Family Party

Had Gabi's family birthday party last night so the boys would both be home to help celebrate.  She got money to spend and some awesome new additions to her wardrobe and shoes.  Could not complain about the weather one bit...the kids played outside most of the time while the adults enjoyed the IU game and socialized a bit.  Good times with family.

Together

We were able to all be together to celebrate my mom's 60th birthday tonight.  She decided on Das Essenhaus...and the AWESOME buffet they have now.  Lots of laughs is always in store when we all get together and we delivered.  Even brought home some cinnamon rolls for breakfast.  And snuck in some photos.  Tyler, of course, had to ruin the best one with his googly eyes he does.  Thanks Tyler.  And happy birthday, mom!!  Here's to many, many more!

Reminders

Watching these three on the trampoline really made my heart smile.  They promised Gabi they would bounce with her. 

They tried to teach her some of the games they used to play on the neighbor's trampoline when they were her age...one was like "Pop The Bean" where they would have to bounce the person folded up in a ball.  Some others they shared were putting balls in the trampoline with them and they would bounce and couldn't be touched by any of the balls or they would be out.  Another...each taking a turn to do certain jumps and adding to it everytime and the next person would have to copy and remember each jump.  LOL  Times have sure changed since they boys were young even.  I loved watching them together today.  Loved their smiles and laughter.

Just Because

Got these today..."just because."  That's my favorite way to get flowers :)  Makes my heart smile!!!

The Gift

Gabi waited all day for her birthday gift on her birthday.  She just couldn't hardly wait another second once daddy got home to watch her.  We had made plans to go to Olive Garden (Gabi's choice) for dinner so we had her get her coat on to put away the volleyball she had gotten out and what a surprise she got!  Her gift waiting for her in the garage.  From maw maw and paw paw and from us.  She was BEYOND EXCITED. 

You can only imagine her anxiety to have her daddy get it together.  He made good on a promise and did so just today.  Happy birthday, Gabi!!!
