Miracle Park, Grandma and Alzheimer's Walk

It was a busy weekend.  Had to work yesterday for about 4 hours at the Miracle Park (The new park that replaced Normain Park with the first all-inclusive park and baseball field in Indiana) with the Mayor's Youth Advisory Council.  We were buddies for the athletes in the afternoon games, and I would say it had to be the most rewarding volunteer event that I have helped with.  So inspiring and heartwarming.  Dave Majewski's son, Eli, actually played in a game that I helped with and he was excited to take a selfie with me.  A fun afternoon and the weather was perfect!  Sunny and lower 70s.  

This morning we took Gunnar up to visit grandma since it has been about three weeks since I have seen her last.  She was happy to see him.  Trenton, Gabi and my parents all went up with us, so it was a nice visit.  She's all decorated for fall in her little room.  

And this afternoon, Gabi, Trenton and I walked in the Alzheimer's Walk since it is so close to Gabi's heart (Sam's dad having early onset Alzheimer's).  A truly special experience.  

ND vs Michigan State

The first night game at Notre Dame is always fun!  The mayor actually presented the flag for the game, which was pretty cool too.  Weather was dicey.  Muggy but chilly.  Rainy.  Forecast was calling for thunderstorms so a chance for lightning delays but we rolled the dice and got tickets.  We caught the player walk and tailgated a bit before going in.  Caitlyn actually got field passes for pregame so Trenton, Tyler and I took turns going out on field.  Very cool atmosphere.  Got the W this week with all the cool vibes of the night game.  Our defense looks solid.  And you know what they say...."defense wins championships."  Bring on the rest of the season!

Friday Dinner and IDEA Foot Chase 5K

Started the weekend out with a fun dinner at Chubby Trout with Lina.  It was nice to catch up.  I had signed Gabi and I up for the FootChase 5K (for IDEA) on Saturday morning but the weather wasn't looking the best.  I was on the fence about running it until Gabi said she was going to do it rain or shine.  So, I decided to follow suit.  It was perfect weather.  Cloudy.  Spit on us just for a bit, but we had a good time.  I am glad I decided to get up and do it!  Not a bad time for me either...especially with my knee and not training regularly for it.  The rain has stopped for now...let's hope it doesn't storm for tonight's game - ND vs. Michigan City at 7:30 pm and you know me and the kids will be there!  Let's go Irish!

ND vs. Rice - First Home Game

The first ND home game is always fun!  And even more fun being able to go with my kids! Even though it was hot (felt like 90 degrees), it ended up with cloud cover so we didn't fry too bad. And ND got a great win! 52-0
