Temperature was about 70 degrees, sunny and beautiful after several days of on and off rain. I had seen a little buck the week prior but passed him up (came within 20 yards) and saw a different little one in another woods on Tuesday evening (passed him up within 20 yards as well). I had compared both bucks I saw and decided the bigger one was the one I had seen in this stand last week. I said a little prayer asking God to send one that could be shot. He did. Right about 6:15pm. Same time the little one came out last week. Except this guy "Trash" (what we called him from pics on trail cam) came out in the field behind me. Ben saw him because he was sitting to the North of me along the fenceline and he actually texted me and told me the buck was behind me. Unfortunately though, "Trash" was 40 yards out and I had branches in my way of a clear shot. It was a chance I did not want to take. Thinking back and after talking to Ben, I should have used my call maybe to get him to turn into the woods near me. As "Trash" continued toward Ben, I texted him and told him it was indeed this guy and he should take him for sure. Ben had already made that choice. I thought I heard Ben use his call, but it actually was "Trash" making his presence known that he was the big guy in the woods. Pretty cool to hear. I watched and heard Ben's crossbow. "Trash" did not run very far and he was down. Very excited for Ben to get this unique deer! This big boy dressed out at 188 lbs!
